The moonshine from a fig

Figs are useful at catarrhal diseases. It is possible to make tasty home wine using them. There are about one thousand types of fig. Fig-based moonshine can be made with moonshine still kits.

The fig tree grows in subtropics, fresh fruits contain up to 75 percent of sugar, but dried ones – no more than 50. Unripe figs are inedible. Seeds of ripe fruits crunch when eating. Figs containing up to 900 seeds in each fruit are considered as good.

How to make fig-based moonshine.

There is one recipe of making the drink. It’s general for any grade of a fig.

Here it is:

1. 2.5 kg of washed figs.
2. 1.5 kg of sugar.
3. 30 g of lemon juice.
4. The pressed or dry yeast (80 -100 g per portion).
5. 3 liters of water.

You need to mash figs and fill them with 1 liter of water. Then start heating the mixture. When boiling add sugar and lemon juice. Put the mixture to another vessel to get it cool. Then yeast and water should be added to it. After three days it is necessary to remove a film from the mash. Then you should mix it and keep in a warm place for 48 more hours. Over this time you will get the final product ready to drink. Also it is possible to distill the mash with a still provided with a distillation column. In this case you will be able to get high-proof alcohol.

How to make wine?

To make wine from dried figs, it is necessary to take one and a half kilograms of berries, 4 liters of water, a kilogram of granulated sugar, 10 grams of wine yeast. Fruits are cut on pieces and put in a glass or large bottle with a capacity of 8 liters. Separately sugar syrup of average density is prepared. It is cooled, filtered, added to the cut fig. Wine yeast is added too.

The closed large bottle is kept in a dark place with the room temperature for a month. It isn’t necessary to mix the drink during fermentation. At the bottom of the bottle alcoholic drink appears. Then it is possible either to drink it or distill.
